Editor’s Voice |

In the last few issues, I’ve spent a lot of time looking backward, reflecting on the year that passed. I started writing for the Voice in late summer 2009 and stepped into the editor’s chair in November 2010. It’s been an incredible experience from beginning to, well…end.
This is my last issue with the Voice. I have a mixture of excitement and sadness as I write these words. Life has taken me in a different direction. Though I am sad to be leaving the many friends I have made here, I am excited about the prospects.
And I know I am leaving the Voice in very capable hands!
Our very own Hayley Gable will be taking on the editor’s chair and she is more than ready for the job. And I’m thrilled to announce that our Editorial Assistant, Dylan Roche, will be moving into a far more active role as Assistant Editor. We have a great editorial team here, and I know they will continue to bring a high level of professionalism and excellence to the pages of this paper.
I have developed a very special appreciation for this community, for the strength and character of the people who make Severna Park tick.
And with that, I say a fond farewell to these pages; to the people I’ve spent a year seeing every day. And an equally fond farewell to those I’ve worked with so closely over the year – from the schools, to the County Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the GSPC, and all the terrific local business people and community leaders who have made my job easier, more enriching, and much more fun!
And with that, I will offer a quote from a lovely lady, long passed, “I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.” ~ Gilda Radner.
Here’s to those moments that don’t rhyme!
