Bands In The Sand Supports The Bay

A community tradition continued Saturday as more than 1,000 guests gathered for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Bands in the Sand event at the Philip Merrill Environmental Center in Annapolis. The attendees enjoyed food, beverages, and live music from reggae band Jah Works, rock cover band Misspent Youth and indie rock special guest The Last Revel.

Katcef Brothers, the Annapolis-based Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) wholesaler, partnered with Bud Light, Stella Artois and Devils Backbone Brewing to provide beverages.

“The Chesapeake Bay Foundation has done important work over the years to protect our bay,” Katcef Brothers President Neal Katcef said. “We’re thrilled to join Devils Backbone to support conservation of Maryland’s waters and wildlife for generations to come.”

With support from its guests and sponsors, the event has raised over $4 million in support of the foundation’s education and restoration efforts. Funds raised this year will support Chesapeake Bay Foundation educational programs for 30,000 students and teachers across the watershed, adding 10 billion oysters to the bay by 2025, and planting 10 million trees in Pennsylvania by 2025.
