We are excited to announce our newest members of the chamber: Lauren Parker, register of wills; Park Mom Fitness; V Lynn Morgan, DDS; Jennifer Welch, First Home Mortgage; Dr. Melvin Weissburg, DMD; Blo Me Dry, Annapolis; Spun Compass Lasting Beauty; AT&T; Face It! Spa and Wellness; Holly Gue, Bob Lucido Team of Keller Williams Integrity; Pedal Power Kids; and Tough Love Salon.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest board member, Dianna Lancione. Dianna and her husband, Lonnie, own the Severna Park Voice and Pasadena Voice, and she brings a wealth of business knowledge to her position as second vice president. We are so excited to work with her and she has already volunteered to head up a few committees.

We recently said farewell to our wonderful intern, who joined us in January 2018. Jenna Taylor, a senior at Severna Park High School, helped us with so many projects. She is off to Elon University where she will study business.

It was ready, set, reschedule for our wonderful Shop Local Fun Festival. The relentless rain caused us to pick the new date of August 18 (also Maryland Tax-Free Week). All our original exhibitors and entertainers will participate, and it will be a great way to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Our Successful Women in Business group held a speed networking event at the Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi. More than 30 attendees participated in the intense and fun “meet and greet.”

Our 2018 spring general membership luncheon was held at La Fontaine Bleue on May 22. County Executive Steve Schuh provided a “State of the County” address, along with Councilman Michael Peroutka. Our legislative update was presented by Delegates Michael Malone, Sid Saab and Tony McConkey, and Senator Ed Reilly. We then recognized our nominees and winners of the 2018 Small Business Administration Awards. The winners will attend the SBA statewide luncheon for the official awards ceremony, which will be held at Martin’s West in Baltimore on June 7.

We combined forces for our first Anne Arundel County Young Professionals/Entrepreneurs Mixer. The Greater Crofton Chamber hosted the event at Newk’s Eatery in Waugh Chapel. More than 30 people attended and enjoyed free appetizers and great conversations. Our chamber is hosting the next event in June, so check our website for the location announcement.

We also held a ribbon cutting in celebration of the grand opening of Bulldog Bikes and Floats in Severna Park. There was food, entertainment for the kids, and fun was had by all!

We will perform a ribbon cutting for Creative Spaces Remodeling on June 9 at their Edgewater location. The event will be from noon–4:00pm, with food, entertainment, a tour of the new facility and much more. This ceremony is free and open to the public.
Please get your applications in for the Fourth of July Parade if you are interested in participating this year.
