Chamber Update

The holidays are upon us! The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce has planned some great events to usher in the season.

The holiday trade fair will be held at Earleigh Heights Fire Hall on Thursday, November 2. The event sponsor is Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi. Doors open at 4:00pm and the event ends at 8:00pm. Food samplings from Bill Bateman’s Bistro, Firehouse Subs, Pats Select Pizza Grill, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Safeway will be available. There will be free flu shots provided by Anne Arundel Medical Center, entertainment, face painting and giveaways. It’s always a great event with lots of local businesses displaying and selling their products and promoting their services. The holiday trade fair is free and family-friendly. It’s a great place for business-to-community and business-to-business contacts.

Our Taste and Sip event will be held at the beautifully appointed Homestead Gardens in Severna Park on November 15 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Shuttle parking is available from Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. Our primary sponsor is the Matt Wyble Team of Champion Realty Inc., with other sponsorships from Rick Hennen-Southern Trust Mortgage, Kogen Dojo and Massage Envy. A free jewelry raffle will be sponsored by Zachary’s Jewelers. Several area businesses will offer samples of fine fare and drink. Guests can enjoy a silent auction, complimentary photos, holiday music and a shopper’s special offered by Homestead Gardens. This event really kicks off the holiday season in Severna Park! Tickets are $35 for members of the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber, $40 for advance tickets offered to the public, and $50 for tickets at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the chamber’s community beautification projects. Contact us at info@severnaparkchamber.com, call 410-647-3900, or purchase tickets online at www.severnaparkchamber.com.

We’re proud to announce our community tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 1. Holly Avenue will be closed to traffic to create a safe meeting place and events will kick off at 5:00pm. Several school choirs and dance groups will perform. Refreshments will be offered in the chamber’s community meeting room, courtesy of our “Toast of Severna Park” Toastmasters Club. Santa will be on hand to greet children. The Severna Park Model Railroad Club train display will be open from 5:00pm to 6:30pm (the train display will also be open Saturday and Sunday, December 2 and 3, from noon to 5:00pm). Tree decorations will be created by the students at Jones Elementary School, under the direction of Amy Degenhard. This event is free and open to residents of the community and visitors to Severna Park.

The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce 2017 edition of the Business and Community Guide is available at the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce, Severna Park Community Center, Garry’s Grill, and other locations in the community. Please let us know if you’d like to pick up one copy (or enough to distribute throughout your community). As always, remember to shop local and support our chamber of commerce members.
