We are excited to announce our newest members of the chamber: Blackwall Barn and Lodge, owned by James King; May Realty, owned by Richard and Rene’ May; Send Out Cards/Carlyn Lowery; KD Designs dba Decorating Den Interiors, owned by Krista Romer; Jaycs Designs, owned by John and Cary Tucker; CSR Web Consulting, owned by Sharon Eller; Send Out Cards/Pam Schuller; and Bay Radiology, owned by Dr. Laura Amodei.

We are so happy for and proud of our businesses that have celebrated various milestones, from opening their doors to anniversaries, expansions and new ownership. They are making their dreams become reality. We had four ribbon cuttings in September, beginning with the wonderful renovation of Café Mezzanotte. Owner Tommie Koukoulis purchased Café Mezz when he was just 23 years old and celebrated 10 years of ownership in addition to the gorgeous renovation. Severna Park Gymnastics celebrated 10 years in business, with proud owner Courtney Parfitt greeting more than 100 attendees at the celebration. Ashley Reed opened the doors to her dream business and celebrated the grand opening of Face It! Spa and Wellness. Face It! provides a variety of services and boasts a salt room - one of five in the whole state. And renowned Griswold Home Care’s new owner, Rita Cook, greeted us for her ribbon cutting with a light lunch and ambitious plans for the business.

Our Successful Women in Business held a wonderful shopping night at Coterie Boutique. Owner Bess Clark gave us a generous discount on our purchases, while Jessica Zaleskiwicz of Coco Couture provided chocolates and Magothy Wine and Spirits presented a wine tasting.

Our business development committee held a seminar on building customer loyalty. Speakers were Dawn Wilson, co-owner of Side Street Framers, and Eddie Conway, owner of Garry’s Grill. The event was a great success, and we thank Ledo Pizza, Severna Park, for opening its doors for our early morning meeting.

We enjoyed a fantastic tour of the new Live! Hotel, which features a spa and gorgeous penthouse suites. Following the tours, we were treated to libations and delicious samplings from David’s Restaurant, named after casino and hotel owner David Cordish.

We are gearing up for the annual fall trade fair, to be held at the Earleigh Heights Fire Department on November 1, and our Taste and Sip, to be held at Homestead Gardens on November 14.
