Chesapeake Academy Basketball Seeing Early Success

In its inaugural season, the Chesapeake Academy 5th grade boys basketball team is making a name for itself in the community. Since losing their first two games to Slade and Lake Shore in early December, the Chesapeake Academy Bay Retrievers have put together a seven game win streak to guarantee a winning record this season.
Chesapeake Academy’s winning frenzy started with a 16-7 victory over the Maryland Blazers. The streak also included a 25-11 win over the Fort Meade Cougars, a 55-48 win over rival St. John’s, a 23-12 win over South River Youth Association’s White team and a 22-7 win over the Greater Glen Burnie Rockets.
The Bay Retrievers also defeated Arden and the Greater Glen Burnie Dingos before a close, four-point loss, in a rematch with St. Johns ended their win streak.
Jimmy Diamondidis, Mark Newman, Luca Hagen, Cormac Callanan, Brendan Cwalina, Tristan Duncan, Burt Gesner, Liam Eden, Jermaine Hall, Everett Cortes, Luke Marcoon, Nick Bertocchio, and Riley Dulaney have each contributed to the team’s success, under the direction of head coach Chris Diamondidis and assistant coaches Don Newman and Chris Stewart.
The Chesapeake Academy Bay Retrievers will round out the season with games against the South County Youth Association Storm and the Fort Meade Cougars.
