I would be lying if I said that this past month has been an easy one for Severna Park. Even though we’re a newspaper that prides itself on covering the good news, it can often be hard to do that when we have a tragedy or loss that affects so much of the community.

Instead of turning a blind eye to “bad” news, our goal is to focus on unifying the community and help facilitate a conversation that can create change. We serve our readers by recognizing the good news and in these times, providing a forum to discuss issues as they arise in our community. Whether the issue is tragic or controversial, our mission is the same. We want to bring the community together and provide everyone with the information and insight we all need to preserve and make a positive change.

I’m not saying that the Severna Park Voice holds all the answers. Far from it, I’m afraid. But I know that we can serve as a center of conversation so that our community can move past this. Maybe — just maybe — if we are brave, compassionate, resilient and strong enough to keep this conversation going, we can find a solution.

For those of you who are struggling, I urge you to reach out to someone. You can reach Anne Arundel County Crisis Response System’s warmline by calling 410-768-5522, and there are other resources listed here. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from all the conversations I’ve had this month, it’s that people really do care and help is available.

As we keep our sights set forward on solving this problem, I don’t want us to lose sight of all the good that our community has. As always, our team at the Voice has spent the last month covering stories around town about volunteers, students, athletes, artists, business owners and many others who are working hard to make the world a better place. We have details on Easter events and other fun activities for the kids. And we have photos of some great moments that happened over the past month.

Remember, if you have news tips, suggestions or feedback on anything included in this edition, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at dylan@severnaparkvoice.com. I like to remember, especially at times when we’re all hurting, that we as a community are united and in this together.

Until next time, Severna Park. Let’s all take care of one another.
