And just like that – it’s May. I don’t know how this year is a third of the way over already. Doesn’t it just feel as if we celebrated New Year’s only a couple of weeks ago?

We’re now getting to a fun time of the year. That’s because May means it’s time for schools to draw to a close, and that brings with it an array of activities we’re going to cover in the upcoming six weeks. Proms, championships, scholarship presentations, graduation and much more are all coming up on the calendar, and we can’t wait to be part of it.

Spring also means the end of the Maryland General Assembly and the announcement of the Anne Arundel County budget, as well as fun runs, Eagle Scout projects and – let’s not forget – Opening Day.

For us at the Voice, we’re especially proud of this month’s edition because it has two special features in it. First, there are all the photos of our Best of Severna Park winners receiving their awards. You might have seen the photo of Severna Park Taphouse on the front page. To see more photos, visit us online to check out the full gallery. We know these businesses work hard to please their customers, and we count ourselves lucky to be able to recognize them for their excellence.

This edition also contains a special section called On The Water, which has all the details you need about boating, swimming, fishing and more. Read up on how you can make the most of your time on the water this upcoming summer.

Those of you who follow us online might have noticed that we’ve been providing a lot more web-exclusive coverage over the last few weeks. We always love to get photos and flyers from our readers so that we can share them – it could even be something simple, like that pic you took of last night’s amazing sunset (of course, we’ll give you credit when we share it). Be sure to find and like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @SPVoice and Instagram @SevernaParkVoice.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the many spring activities, Severna Park. And remember that if you have feedback on anything you read in this edition, or if you have a great story idea, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at dylan@severnaparkvoice.com.
