Elks Recognize Former Member And Burn Mortgage

The Severna Park Elks celebrated two milestones on March 23.

Members dedicated a pavilion to Navy veteran Charles “Chuck” Fitchet, a dedicated Elks member who died last August. During his time with the Navy, Fitchet received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Defense Service Medal, Naval Aviator and Command at Sea Insignias, as well as other honors.

Fitchet was a member of the Severna Park Elks Lodge for 26 years. He served on various committees including the house committee and board of directors, many of those years as committee chair. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 175.

Members of the Severna Park Elks also “burned” their mortgage, celebrating their debt-free status after 52 years.
