The Elvaton 12U Explosion softball team capped a dominant season in the North County Community Girls Softball League on June 9 by defeating Broadneck Maroon 11-1 in the postseason tournament championship game at Rock Creek Park in Pasadena.

The NCCGSL championship completed an undefeated 14-0-1 season for Elvaton, which went 10-0-1 in the 19-team league during the regular season before reeling off four playoff wins to win the league title.

The Explosion are Adelina Meadows, Alexa Jimeno, Ally Weaver, Alyssa Johnson, Elisabeth Krupinsky, Gillian Bean, Kate Behe, Lily Gleisner, Marielle Unger, Olivia Danielson, Ryleigh Smith and Sydney Wiseman. Krupinsky, Jimeno and Wiseman gave the Explosion the rare luxury of three excellent pitchers during the season. The infield defense of Weaver, Meadows, Danielson, Johnson and Gleisner helped Elvaton limit the offense of the opposition, while Smith anchored the team as Elvaton’s catcher. Behe, Bean and Unger were versatile players who made many clutch contributions throughout the season and the playoffs.

On the season, the team outscored opponents by an average of 12 runs.

The Explosion were coached by head coach Greg Jimeno and assistant coaches Brittany Hammack and Keith Gleisner.

“I am very proud of the this team,” said coach Jimeno. “They were consistent in all aspects of the game from excellent pitching to solid defense to an explosive offense. The team worked hard beginning in winter workouts until the last out of the championship game.”
