Please Pardon Our Electronic Dust
Readers familiar with our website may already have noticed a few changes going on, but hang on to your hats, were about to kick up some major electronic renovation dust.
The first changes are already live. Our blog is now located right on our site and will feature regular updates, information and news from around the community. The other big change immediately noticeable is the Fresh Ink section on the home page. Fresh Ink will feature links to some of our latest stories upcoming events and news thats happening right now.
All this cool stuff means well not only be able give our readers more information, but well be giving them more up to date information. Articles from the paper will still go online shortly after each issue is published, and throughout the month well be adding new stories, photos and community information as we get it. That way, readers are always getting fresh content!
But thats not all!
Those are just the first set of changes visible right now. Also in the works are weekly updates to the front page slide show and Featured Stories sections. Starting with this issue, some stories will include supplemental, web-only content. Stories featuring additional content will include a note at the bottom of the article; just go to the URL provided to see more more pictures, more details, more, more, more. As part of this project, were also kicking our Facebook and Twitter pages into high gear, so make sure to link to us online.
A few other updates on the horizon include new coupons, a business directory and other tools to help our readers connect with local businesses. Its all pretty exciting stuff!
How are we going to do all of this?
Were going to ask our readers for help, of course! Weve always accepted press releases, team and club news, school information, calendar items and other events from the community, and thats not going to change. In fact, its going to get better. Some items will still go in the paper, which is direct mailed to over 20,000 homes and businesses in Severna Park, Arnold and Millersville, just as they always have, but well also be adding items to our website.
Readers wishing to submit items for the website or paper can email details to SPVNews@SevernaParkVoice.com.
Theres another exciting change on the horizon. Were working on creating an online submission form that will allow readers to submit photos and information right from our website.
To enhance these changes, were asking our readers to help us out let us know what youd like to see more of on the web and in the paper. Drop us a note via email and let us know whats important to you. Want to see the scores of all the latest school sports? Let us know. Are you more into the arts than the gridiron? Let us know.
And yes, theres still more!
Were asking readers to submit your photos and short stories for our website. If youve been to a cool event, or have a great local story to share, email it to us at The Voice. Your photo and story may appear on our website. Send us an email to get our submission guidelines sent to you well let you know exactly how to format your photos and text for submission. Additional information, including submission guidelines is available on our website.
As always, we are here to serve the community in which every member of our staff lives and works.
