Fight For Phoebe Is Accepting Scholarship Applications

Fight for Phoebe Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping local people and families with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and other orphan diseases through advocacy, education and research, is offering a new scholarship opportunity.

The nonprofit was formed in memory of Phoebe Jeong-hui Ward, who loved penguins and wanted to be a veterinarian. Applicants for the scholarship must:

  • Be a female student
  • Be graduating from Severna Park High School
  • Reside in Anne Arundel County
  • Be accepted into and committed to attending an accredited college or university and studying animal or veterinary science, animal conservation or a related field

Interested and eligible students should go to www.fightforphoebe.com and download the application. The application package must include the following items:

  1. Completed application form
  2. A letter of reference from a community leader attesting to the character and leadership attributes of the applicant
  3. An essay by the applicant explaining why she has chosen her field of study, and how she intends to use these studies
  4. Letter of acceptance from the educational program
  5. High school transcripts

Applications are due by July 1, 2019, and should be submitted electronically by emailing fightforphoebeinc@gmail.com or mailing the complete package to:
