Green Hornets Girls Recognized For Exemplary Sportsmanship

Posted

On May 30, Severna Park Green Hornets girls lacrosse coaches and parents gathered at Kinder Park to recognize the 2018 Terry E. Robinson Memorial Sportsmanship Award winners. Now in its ninth year, this award is given annually to the Green Hornets girls lacrosse players who best exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship throughout the season, as shown by their respect for fellow competitors, coaches and officials; their personal responsibility to their team and themselves; and their graciousness in victory as well as defeat. One player from each Green Hornets girls lacrosse team is selected for this award through majority agreement of the team’s coaching staff.

The annual award was established in honor of Terry E. Robinson, a Green Hornets girls’ lacrosse coach for 12 seasons who passed away in 2009. Robinson was a much-loved supporter of youth sports and served as a positive force in the lives of many athletes. In Robinson’s own words, the goal of Green Hornets youth sports is to value “the commitment of the girls to work hard in practice, pay attention and carry their talents to the games. It has never been about winning or losing for me or any coach that I have encountered in Green Hornets, but about the teaching of lacrosse and the improvement of the skills of the girls.”

The 2018 Terry E. Robinson Memorial Sportsmanship Award winners are Hope Wagner, Delainey Robertson, Regan Graves, Kendall Day, Sadie Mack, Gabriela Villegas, Emerson Clarke, Jordyn Urban, Olivia Hilbert, Cailen Bender, Aubrey Cox, Nora Petrey, Sienna McPhee, Grace Redmond, Skylar Yeager, Sarah Murphy, Isabelle Williamson, Katelyn Williams, Emma Dooley, Claire Foster, Summer Smith, Brynn Kline, Meghal Spencer, Anna Sullivan, Kaylee Gerber, Sophia Urrea, Ava Baselga, Cami Weeks, Samantha Iveris, Morgan Scott and Bridgette Van Valkenburgh.
