Green Hornets Lax Recycles Equipment

The Green Hornets Boys Lacrosse program recently held its first annual lacrosse equipment exchange.
“It seems that just about everyone in Severna Park has lacrosse equipment in their garage that doesn’t fit anymore,” said Boys Lacrosse Commissioner Matt Schaller.
So, with the help of some volunteers and word of mouth, the program asked community members to donate what they no longer used. Participants sent a text message letting the Green Hornets know they had equipment to donate, and then left the equipment on their front steps, where volunteers picked it up.
“The donated equipment filled the table at the Kinder Clubhouse,” Schaller said. “We had sticks, helmets, gloves, arm pads and more. Within an hour the equipment was in the hands of new owners and future lax stars were in the making.”
The Green Hornets Boys Lacrosse program is already making plans for next year’s exchange; if you’d like to participate, text 443-254-2214 with your name and address. Volunteers will text you back with the date they will come by to pick up your used or unwanted equipment.
“We hope to have even more equipment to offer next year,” said Schaller. “If you have stuff you are ready to throw out just text [us].”
