On May 25, the Green Hornets girls lacrosse program presented the 2nd Annual Terry E. Robinson Memorial Sportsmanship Awards. Established in 2010, the awards are given annually to the Green Hornets girls lacrosse players who best exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship throughout the season, as shown by their respect for fellow competitors, coaches and officials, their personal responsibility to their team and themselves, and their graciousness in winning as well as defeat. Every season, one player from each Green Hornets girls’ lacrosse team (Pee Wee through Juniors) is selected for this award through majority agreement of the team’s coaching staff.

The award was established in honor of the late Terry Robinson, a Green Hornets girls’ lacrosse coach for 12 seasons. Coach Robinson was a much-loved supporter of youth sports and served as a positive force in the lives of many athletes. In Terry’s own words, the goal of Green Hornets youth sports is to “value the commitment of the girls to work hard in practice, pay attention, and carry their talents to the games. It has never been about winning or losing for me or any coach that I have encountered in Green Hornets, but about the teaching of lacrosse and improvement of skills by the girls.”

The 2011 winners of the Terry E. Robinson Memorial Sportsmanship Awards are Maddie Gibson, Nora O'Reilly, Caroline Steele, Margaret Galdi, Madison Finnerin, Peyton Finnerin, Molly Carr, Sydney Daneman, Mallory Martel, Stephanie Shanahan, Ali Bradshaw, Gracie O'Connor, Katherine Hulting, Allie Bodner, Megan Peters, Lindsay Prugh, Emily Carson, Abbey Martel, Colleen Shrum, Marley Watkins, Molly Meyers, Elizabeth O'Neill, Caitria Demeroto, Danielle Gonyeau, Allie Gray, and Alexandra Jones.
