Three local athletes were recently honored by being named Swimmer of the Year by Maryland Swimming. Jackson Schultz, 16; Mary Feliz, 12; and Kate Spraul, 11, all received the award. The trio, who are all members of the Severna Park Racquetball and Fitness Club Stingrays, the club’s year-round swim team, achieved their honors in their respective age and competition classes. Schultz received the Maryland Swimmer of the Year award for a second straight year in recognition of his long course season. Feliz was named Maryland Swimmer of the Year for her 11-year-old long course season after winning the award as a 10-year-old for both her short- and long-course seasons. Spraul was also Maryland Swimmer of the Year as a 9-year-old in both short and long course and received the award again this year as a 10-year-old for her short course season.

Severna Park Racquetball and Fitness Club fields a year-round swim team, the Stingrays, of over 100 swimmers aged 5-18 who train up to six days a week and 11 months out of the year.
