PLUNGE GUIDE: A Message From Maryland State Police

Posted

The Maryland State Police is proud to be a founding member of the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics. We are honored to work with such a great organizing team of law enforcement, state agencies and corporate partners. For the 23rd year, the best and bravest of Maryland will gather at Sandy Point to participate in what has become a tradition of cold temperatures, warm hearts, great fun and outstanding support for the athletes of Special Olympics. Our partnership with Special Olympics Maryland has given the Maryland State Police and our law enforcement partners a variety of ways we can help those children and adults in our state with intellectual disabilities. As part of the Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run, thousands of local and state police officers, sheriff’s deputies, correctional officers and federal agents throughout our state participate in different events and initiatives during the year that raise funds to help support the year-round sports training and competition provided free of charge by Special Olympics Maryland. Just as important is the awareness these events raise among citizens and police officers about people with intellectual disabilities. Thank you for helping us keep the Flame of Hope burning bright for Special Olympics athletes in our state.
