Raising The Bar: Help The Voice Support Katherine’s Light On March 30

Posted

Everybody’s working for the weekend, and every weekend this winter, guest bartenders at Vida Taco Bar in Severna Park have spent Saturday nights earning tips for charity.

Our staff from the Severna Park Voice is setting up behind the bar on Saturday, March 30, to serve drinks while fundraising for the Katherine’s Light Foundation.

The cause has a special significance for us. Severna Park Voice account executive Larry Sells and his wife, Robin, lost their daughter, Katherine Mueller, in December 2021 after the 31-year-old fought a courageous three-year battle with neuroendocrine tumors.

Named in her honor, the Katherine’s Light Foundation will provide funding for the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) as well as other local area nonprofits and organizations that deal with education, awareness, treatments, and support that will lead to potential cures and assistance for those living with a cancer diagnosis. Larry and Robin have also established the Katherine Mueller Nursing Scholarship.

A Severna Park High School graduate, Katherine worked at Anne Arundel Medical Center (now known as Luminis Health) for the duration of her career as a community health education specialist.

The Severna Park Voice is the last of 13 organizations to serve as a guest bartender this year. Please join us for a night of charity and fun on March 30. Half of all gratuities will go to the Katherine’s Light Foundation.
