Ravens Nest 10 And Ravens Roost 27 Prepare For The Season

The Baltimore Ravens are sporting a new look this year with Lamar Jackson in his first full year as quarterback, along with new faces at wide receiver and on defense. Those changes create a buzz around the team, and that signals good news for Ravens Nest 10 and Ravens Roost 27.

A group of football fans and philanthropists, Ravens Nest 10 does its best charity work when fans are invested in the team.

“It’s a good group of people who are interested in football and charity work,” said Dave Milam, who is serving as Nest 10 president for the fourth time since it was founded in 2002. “It’s a great thing. We have probably averaged $20,000 a year for almost 20 years.”

Each year, the Nest picks five charities to support. For the upcoming season, those charities are Anne Arundel County Special Olympics, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, Maryland Patriot Guard, Hero Dogs, and Hope For All.

After congregating at Bill Bateman’s Bistro in Severna Park for the last several years, Ravens Nest 10 will now meet at the Greene Turtle in Pasadena on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm.

The group is around 44 members. Anyone interested in joining can fill out a membership application at www.ravensnest10.com.

Asked about his expectations for the season, Milam is hopeful.

“I think we’re a playoff team,” he said. “It’s hard for a team with a young quarterback to go all the way to the Super Bowl, but we have a chance.”

Ravens Roost 27 is led by Marc Lombardi. This year, the group will again  help the Johns Hopkins Dr. Phuoc Tran Prostate Cancer Research Fund and also assist teenage sports fan Mo Gaba, who has battled cancer three times.

Lombardi said 11 fans from the 91-member Ravens Roost 27 are traveling to Miami for Baltimore's season opener against the Dolphins on September 8.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at a member's home. To join, contact Lombardi at 410-925-0093.

"I think we're going to have 11 wins this year," Lombardi predicted. "I think going to training camp, and seeing the way guys were competing, we're going to be good."
