Residents Lace Up Their Running Shoes For Relay For Life May 17-18

Registration is now open for the Arnold/Annapolis Relay for Life, set to take place from 2:00pm on Saturday, May 17, to 6:00am on Sunday, May 18, at Anne Arundel Community College. The overnight event – an American Cancer Society fundraiser organized in individual communities across the world – unites survivors, caregivers and other loved ones of all ages and backgrounds in a walk against cancer.

Teams will camp out around the AACC track overnight and members of each team will take turns walking around the track. The family-friendly environment will abound with games, activities, food and other entertainment to build camaraderie among participants.

The festivities will begin with an opening ceremony, followed by a survivors lap around the track. When the sun sets, a luminaria ceremony will remember those who have been lost to cancer, support those currently fighting it and honor those who have fought it in the past. At dawn, a closing ceremony will celebrate all those who stayed throughout the night and who have committed, through participation in Relay, to fight back against the disease over the next year.
