SPAN’s Turkey Trot 5K/1M Is Coming November 11 – Voted Best Family Activity Of The Year

OK, so we voted it best family activity ourselves, but don’t let that detract from the fact that it really is! If you love exercise and fresh air, love prizes and food, love Kinder Park, love seeing your neighbors and friends, and love bringing your kids and dogs to a fundraiser that benefits those in need in your community, then the Turkey Trot is for you!

Registration is open now at www.active.com. This event sells out every year, so register early!

We are seeking sponsors for the Turkey Trot. Sponsorships are a great way for local businesses to show that they support their community by “giving local.” Sponsors will get their logo on banners and other promotional material, including lots of social media and website exposure. Sponsorship forms are available at www.spanhelps.org and also in our office.

Now you can sponsor a local family with our Holiday Caring Program. Every day, we see the unique challenges facing our neighbors in need. The holidays are no exception. Unfortunately, there are families in our area that have faced an emergency situation this year, leaving them struggling to pay their rent, pay their utility bill, fill a prescription, or buy food. These financial stresses make it difficult or even impossible to provide a holiday dinner or Christmas gifts for their children.

The SPAN Holiday Caring Program helps our neighbors in need by providing holiday food baskets for a family, and gifts for the children. In order to provide this assistance, we depend on the generosity of people like you! Please consider becoming a sponsor - you will be matched with a SPAN client family, purchase the food and/or gifts for the family, and deliver the donation to SPAN for distribution. Sponsors also have the option of sending SPAN a tax-deductible donation or gift cards.

The Capiche Street Food Italiano fundraiser for SPAN is on Wednesday, October 17, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Eat delicious Italian food and a portion of your bill will be donated to SPAN. Good on eat-in, delivery or carryout.

SPAN (Serving People Across Neighborhoods) is a faith-based nonprofit food pantry and emergency services provider that has been helping local families with eviction prevention, utility turnoffs, prescription needs and food since 1990. SPAN serves Severna Park, Millersville, Arnold, Broadneck and other surrounding areas. SPAN is located behind Our Shepherd Lutheran Church at 400 Benfield Road.
