As summer comes to a close, it’s time to soak up as much sun as possible and enjoy the end of the warm weather. To help you get out this weekend, we’re highlighting some activities happening around town:

1.  Movie Night Under The Stars - Friday, August 24

What’s better than a movie under the stars? Join Agape Deliverance Ministries on Saturday for a free showing of “Despicable Me 3.” Ahead of the movie, there will be pre-show entertainment and a variety of free concessions, including hot dogs, popcorn and snow cones. The movie starts when the sun goes down. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs to sit on. Agape Deliverance Ministries, 8423 Veterans Highway, Millersville. 7:00pm. Free. More info.

2.  “9 to 5” Musical - Friday, August 24; Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

It’s almost closing time! The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre’s production of “9 to 5” has three performances this weekend from Friday to Sunday, all at 8:30pm. The musical is based on the 1980 hit movie about three female coworkers who concoct a plan to get back at their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss. A girl can scheme, can’t she? “9 to 5” closes Sept. 2. Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre, 143 Compromise Street, Annapolis. 8:30pm. $25. More info.

3.    Free Back To School Shopping - Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

The start of a new school year is stressful for a lot of reasons, and funding it can be one of them. This weekend, the College Parkway Baptist Church is hosting a FREE Back to School Depot with clothes and school supplies available. Clothes are available for those of all ages — both children and parents. College Parkway Baptist Church, 301 College Parkway, Arnold. Saturday: 4:00pm-7:00pm. Sunday: 12:30pm-3:30pm. Free.

4.  RennFest Opening Weekend - Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26

Hear ye, hear ye! The renowned Maryland Renaissance Festival opens this weekend. Opening weekend is also Children’s Weekend, meaning those ages 15 and under do not need tickets to get into the festival. Special guests this weekend include Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
