Happy Friday! School’s out for the summer! Did you know that 411 years ago, Captain John Smith explored the Magothy River? Whether you’re looking to learn, focus on your health or play with some animals while viewing cars, there’s plenty going on around town this weekend. Have a great weekend, and happy Father’s Day! The Anne Arundel County Food Bank and ACAN are hosting a free, one-day-only pop-up food distribution event. There will be free household goods, free produce, free children’s activities, free entertainment and free prizes. Asbury Town Neck United Methodist. 8:00am-Noon. More info.

The annual Pistons & Paws event is this Saturday. The combined car/motorcycle show and adoption event features live music, food and vendors. Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. 10:00am-2:00pm. More info.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, in conjunction with a sorority and fraternity, are hosting a Community Health Fair on Saturday. The health fair includes basic health screenings, entertainment, education, mental health, autism awareness and more. Severna Park Community Center. 11:00am-2:00pm. More info.

As part of its Pride Month activities, Broadneck Library is hosting a Lunch & Learn about what it means to be transgender. Community members are invited to spend time with members of the transgender community and learn about their lives. Bring a bagged lunch. Broadneck Library. Noon-1:00pm. More info.
