Whitehurst Nominated For “Nicest” Place In America

Posted

Reader’s Digest is holding a contest for the Nicest Place In America, and the Whitehurst community is one of the 49 nominees.

When voting closes on July 21, a panel of eight judges will name the nicest place in America. The winner will be featured in a cover story for Reader’s Digest.

Kati Elliott nominated Whitehurst for the contest.

“We start community food trains when someone in the community is sick or injured. We watch out for our elderly neighbors and do things like shoveling their driveways and walkways when it snows,” Elliott wrote in the neighborhood description. “Everyone knows everyone else and kids here are really raised by the community.”

Voting is open through Sunday, July 21.
