Ballet Theatre Of Maryland Season Schedule

Posted

Ballet Theatre of Maryland (BTM) has announced its lineup of upcoming performances for its 2025-2026 season. Beginning on September 21, with a VIP Ballet in the Garden event, the season comprises six productions, four of which are included in BTM’s season subscription package.

Mainstage performances are held at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, while other events will be held in Owings Mills, Hampstead and Largo. Though Maryland Hall is undergoing renovations that might impact parking, restrooms, and how to access the theater, performances will continue as scheduled.

BTM will also be found throughout the community this fall at events including the Maryland Renaissance Festival, the Professional Dance Collaborative of Maryland’s fall mixer, Ballet on the Beach, and Art in the Park at Quiet Waters Park. Additional information about BTM’s presence at events will be provided on the Ballet Theatre of Maryland Facebook and Instagram pages.

Ballet in the Garden

Sunday, September 21, 5:00pm

Guests will be invited to the Hammond-Harwood House in Annapolis to enjoy smaller classical works in a garden setting and a complimentary glass of wine. Audiences can expect favorites from classical ballets and composers such as Gershwin, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky. Other numbers will include works by Roman Mykyta and by company dancers Lindsey Bell and Isaac Martinez. Tickets are $60 for subscribers and $80 for non-subscribers.

A Nutcracker Storytime

Sunday, October 12, 1:00pm

BTM and Historic Annapolis will present “A Nutcracker Storytime” at the William Paca House and Garden. Costumed dancers from BTM will share an engaging read-aloud of “The Nutcracker,” give families a sneak peek of the all-new Annapolis-themed production, and invite children to join in a fun, interactive move-along. General admission tickets are $10 for children and $5 for adults.

Giselle

October 17-19

“Giselle” tells the story of a German peasant girl who unknowingly falls in love with a nobleman and loves nothing more than to dance, but her mother cautions her that her heart is too weak. BTM will perform the tragic ballet just in time for Halloween, with performances at 7:30pm on October 17, 7:00pm on October 18, and 2:00pm on October 19.

The Nutcracker

November 23, December 13-21

This year, BTM is unveiling a new retelling of “The Nutcracker,” set in 19th-century Annapolis. The production will feature new choreography by artistic director Nicole Kelsch, reflecting Christmas traditions popular in Maryland in the 1800s. “The Nutcracker” will premiere at 2:00pm at the Coppermine Pantherplex on November 23 before moving to BTM’s mainstage performance venue of Maryland Hall from December 13-21.

Momentum: A Mixed Bill

February 13-14

This performance offers audiences a bouquet of world-premiering works just in time for Valentine’s Day. In “Momentum,” BTM fosters new works from emerging creators while also offering an opportunity for established creators to experiment. The evening of dance will feature works varying in length from five to 30 minutes each, presenting a broad spectrum of themes from pointe shoes to bare feet. “Momentum: A Mixed Bill” will be presented at 7:30pm on February 13 and 7:00pm on February 14.

La Esmeralda

April 24-25

BTM’s performance of “La Esmeralda” will be a company and Maryland premiere. Originally staged in London in 1844 before being expanded into a three-act ballet for the Russian stage, the ballet retells the story of Victor Hugo’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Marius Petipa’s revivals in the late 19th century can be credited for the modern version of the production. Tickets are available for a performance at 7:30pm on April 24, as well as for performances at 1:00pm and 4:30pm on April 25.
