Broadneck’s Cornelius No-Hits Annapolis

Posted

The Broadneck softball team is ready to get back at it.

Through a combination of built-in scheduling and unfavorable weather, the Bruins have played just two games and went two weeks between games when they faced off against Crofton on April 8.

The highlight of the season so far came in an 18-0 win over Annapolis on March 25, in which Addie Cornelius tossed a seven-inning no-hitter and struck out 11. Dianna Owens went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Rylan Crisafulli, Bella Herrera and Grace Purdum also plated two runs.

Broadneck opened the season with a 13-0 win over Southern on March 22. Sam Waters tossed a complete game, striking out 10. Waters and Mara Gilkey each drove in two runs, while Cornelius had three hits.

A scheduled April 4 game against Wellsville (New York) was lost due to rain. After the Crofton game, Broadneck faced off against Dulaney, who knocked the Bruins out of the 4A state semifinals last season, on April 9. Then they have games against Northeast on April 11 and Old Mill on April 12.
