One of the most rewarding parts of serving as a state delegate is celebrating with our community and recognizing those who make a difference. Through strong partnerships with the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce, the Pasadena Business Association and the Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce, I’ve had the honor of attending numerous ribbon cuttings and presenting citations to local small-business owners.
As a small-business owner myself, I understand the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience it takes to build and sustain a business that not only succeeds but also gives back to the community. Supporting and uplifting our entrepreneurs is one of the greatest joys of this role.
What’s really inspiring is the opportunity to celebrate our youth. I’ve had the privilege of attending several Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremonies and recently presented a citation to Alethia Brown, the first recipient of the Stars and Stripes Award for Troop MD0152. It is an absolute honor to recognize young people who are committed to service, community and leadership.
If you know of a District 31 business, youth or community member who deserves special recognition, I would love to hear from you. Please reach out to my office at latoya.nkongolo@house.maryland.gov with details including the honoree’s name, the date of the event, and suggested language for the citation. We would be happy to mail the citation or present it in person, depending on availability.
There is so much good happening in our community, and I look forward to celebrating these achievements together.
