Bowie Baysox Baseball — The Bowie Baysox are a Minor League Baseball team located in Bowie, Maryland. The Baysox are the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and play in the Eastern League. Their home ballpark is Prince George's Stadium. In addition to fun events for all ages, the Baysox support many charitable endeavors.

Hearing & Balance Solutions LLC — This business is an audiologist owned and operated private practice with a combined 34 years of clinical audiology experience. The company provides hearing, tinnitus and balance services to a wide patient population and accepts most insurance. It has two convenient locations (Severna Park and Edgewater) to serve you.

Great Oak Roofing LLC — This is a local, family-owned company offering a comprehensive range of services including full roof replacement, roof repair, gutter installation and gutter guard installation. The company’s personnel are certified GAF installers with more than 40 years of experience, receiving specialized training from leading roofing materials manufacturers. It also offers affordable financing options.

Ms. V. Training Center — Veronica Williams has been an independent Red Cross certified instructor since 2008. In 2013, she began providing American Heart Association classes for health care providers. She is also a training site coordinator with more than 70 instructors. She is providing Red Cross certified babysitting classes at the chamber.

We had an abundance of ribbon-cutting celebrations this month to celebrate grand openings and milestones. Here they are:

• Ribbon-cutting celebrating the grand opening of Annapolis Aesthetics in Severna Park. The business provides skin care treatments and services.
• Anniversary celebration of JK Organizing’s three years of business success. The team will help you get organized and create sustainable systems.
• Launch of Carrie Baquie’s Wellbeing Empowerment Coaching business. She can help you navigate the journey through chronic illnesses.
• Ribbon-cutting celebrating the grand opening of Skinlogic in Severna Park. Skinlogic provides hair removal and skin care treatments and has its own line of products.
• Ribbon-cutting celebrating the grand reopening of National Carpet and Flooring in Crofton. This is under new ownership and has expanded.
• Anniversary celebration of Bike Doctor Arnold’s 35 years of business success. Bike Doctor has six locations in Maryland.

Our Successful Women in Business group held a multi-chamber luncheon at the Walden Country Club in Crofton, celebrating Women’s History Month. Nancy Greer of the Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi sponsored well-known actress Mary Ann Jung, who portrayed Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Stanton wrote all of the speeches for Susan B. Anthony and worked with her for 50 years on women’s rights.

Member Rose Walker of the House of Design sponsored a mixer at The Social, where she displayed her wonderful line of clothing. Come see her at our Shop Local Fun Fiesta on May 6 at Park Plaza from 11:00am-3:00pm.

The Wellness Business Coalition held its monthly meeting at The Social. The meetings are open to wellness practitioners and are held on the third Thursday of each month from 4:30pm–6:00pm.

Booth space is filling up for our Shop Local Fun Fiesta. Attendees can enjoy exhibitors, entertainment, a DJ, food and more. Our gold sponsors will donate 50% of their sponsorships to charities. Gold sponsors are Landmark Roofing, Dodgebow Annapolis, SERVPRO of Severna Park/Arnold, the Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi, and Kogen Dojo. Silver sponsors are Kwon’s Taekwondo and the Lash Lounge Annapolis. Bronze sponsors are CertaPro Painters of Severna Park and Neat Wall TV.

Registration is open for our Independence Day parade. The parade will be held in Severna Park on July 4 from 10:00am–noon. The theme of our parade is “Broad Stripes, Bright Stars and Big Hearts.” The grand marshal is Wayne Gerst, a lifelong resident and philanthropist.

We love to see floats and have created a special contest to award $500 in three categories: Best Overall, Most Patriotic and Most Original.
