CP Open Auditions for The Winslow Boy

Posted

All roles are open and non-paying. The show requires 11 performers.
Show Synopsis:

The play is based on the 1908 true story of a young teenage boy attending the ‘Royal Naval College on the Isle of Wight’, an island off the south coast of England. ‘Ronnie’ is falsely accused of stealing a five-shilling postal order from a schoolmate, resulting in his immediate expulsion from the naval college by the Admiralty of the Navy without trial or even a hearing of his side of the story. Denying the accusation leads to the boy’s father and sister hiring a lawyer to clear his name. After hiring a prestigious and talented lawyer, the case becomes a sensationalized public story and involves many changes to the five members of the Winslow family, both personally and financially.

This case played a major role in discussions of the application of a Petition of Right (to be heard) and became one of the most widely debated events in Great Britain.
