Earleigh Heights Carnival Returns For Classic Summer Fun

Posted

A Severna Park tradition that began in 1945 continues 80 years later: The Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company’s (EHVFC) annual carnival is coming to town July 10-19.

Kids and kids at heart can look forward to more than two dozen thrilling rides from locally based Jolly Shows as well as fun games, iconic concessions and more at this year’s event. Jolly Shows will offer sweet treats including ice cream, cotton candy and candy apples, and the EHVFC auxiliary will offer an expansive food menu to raise funds as well.

Carnival chairman and EHVFC board member Andy Price has been involved with the beloved event for over three decades. He shared that all proceeds from the carnival support the firehouse; funds are used to buy new apparatus and equipment. In recent years, carnival proceeds were used for a new rescue squad. Plans are also underway to construct a new fire station behind the existing one.

The carnival is closed on Sunday, July 13, but is otherwise open daily from 6:00pm-11:00pm. Unlimited ride wristbands can be purchased in advance online through the Jolly Shows website, www.marylandcarnivals.com. Tickets and wristbands are cash-only at the carnival grounds, though ATMs will be available. Food can be purchased by credit card. If necessary, weather updates will be posted on the EHVFC and Jolly Shows Facebook pages.
