After outscoring their opponents 54-1 over their last two games, against Severn Run and Southern, respectively, the Severna Park boys lacrosse team is poised to play in the county championship at Northeast High School next Monday. Their likely opponent is South River.
The Falcons are 11-1, with their only loss coming to nationally ranked Landon, 13-5, on April 8. Spring break wins over Virginia’s West Potomac (16-6) and James Robison (10-2) were sandwiched by a pair of 7-5 wins over county rivals Broadneck and South River. Those two victories took on similar themes: tight early, with the Falcons pulling ahead with clear daylight in the second half.
With wins over Huntingtown today and Annapolis on Friday, Severna Park would also secure the top seed for the regional playoffs, which start May 7.
Not to be outdone, the Severna Park girls are having a stellar season with a record of 12-1 and are preparing for a potential county championship match against Broadneck. They have already clinched the top seed in the upcoming regional playoffs.
