Have you ever found a dog, cat or rabbit and wished you could reunite the pet with its owner? That possibility is now more likely thanks to a partnership between the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACoFD), Anne Arundel County Animal Services and the nonprofit Friends of Anne Arundel County Animals.
The initiative places pet microchip scanners in fire stations across the county. All it takes is a quick scan for firefighters to identify a pet.
Members of AACoFD called the initiative an example of what can happen when public safety agencies and community partners work together for a common goal.
“As a fire department, we want to take care of all our residents, including out four-legged friends,” said Don Clime, an AACoFD firefighter and paramedic.
