I'm a transplant from another small town. There were too many sponsors in the parade. Don't we have any soldiers either active or retired who we could cheer on? Where is the highschool band? How about the cheerleaders or the dance squad? Where's the football team or any winning team? It's nice to make money on a parade but it felt odd waving at Jing Ying and the other Dojo at a July 4th parade. Yes, I know, everyone's welcome but we'll be sure to skip it in the future since it felt like a fundraiser not a parade.

Hi Level 1.
I'm sorry but I think you missed the point. There were veterans in the parade. And there were businesses in the parade who are also local residents. These are people that live, work, employ, and love their community. Folks like Jing Ying provide an outlet for our kids after school; give them direction and discipline. The businesses in the parade are where we can shop locally and know that our dollars are staying in the community and not going to mega-corporations out of state or even out of the country.
The parade is all about celebrating the community and all aspects of it.
