Green Hornets “White” Capture HOCO 2032 B Division Title

For the Green Hornets 2032 boys lacrosse team, championship weekend from May 17-18 started with a 9-4 win over True Chesapeake in the semifinals of the Howard County Lacrosse league, which includes teams from all across the region. The win was on the shoulders of first-time goalie Tate Barksdale, who had eight saves in his inaugural game.

The championship game against Team Ville was a dominant effort with the Hornets jumping to an 8-0 lead before finishing the game with an 8-3 win. Scoring in the game was paced by the attack play of Clyde Baker, JP Burleson, Carson Corey, Wyatt Rubiano and Ryan Scollard.

Between the lines, the midfield play of Aiden Ortel, Kellen Clay, Joey Potocek, Jude Earhart, Owen Bergman, Frankie Barr and Andrew Adams controlled the ball with great faceoffs, ground balls, and transition play. The defense was anchored by goalie Grady Shadowens, who returned for the championship game. The close defense of David Morris, Porter Mecone, James Hillyer and Kieren Sowa held the Ville’s attack in check throughout the game. Oliver Groves was a menace all day as the long-stick midfielder.

The team is coached by Keith Baker, Chris Ortel and Brian Scollard. Equipment managers are Reece Ortel and Mitchell Baker.
