As your state senator, one of my greatest responsibilities — and privileges — is serving the people of District 33 not just during the legislative session in Annapolis but every day. Whether it’s navigating state agencies, answering questions about legislation, or simply helping you connect with resources, my office is here to assist you year-round.
I often hear from constituents who aren’t sure whether an issue falls within my office’s responsibilities. The short answer? If it involves state government — or if you’re not sure where else to turn — please don’t hesitate to reach out. My team and I are here to serve as your advocates, problem-solvers, and partners in government.
One of the most common ways we assist residents is by helping cut through red tape. Whether it’s resolving issues with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, Maryland State Highway Administration, unemployment insurance, tax matters, or state health and human services, my office works directly with state agencies to get answers and help resolve problems.
We also work closely with our county and federal partners to advocate for constituents on a broad range of issues, ensuring your voice is heard at every level of government.
Public service is also about celebrating the moments that matter to you. My office offers commemorative citations and Maryland state flags to recognize retirements, business openings, anniversaries, Scout awards, and other milestones. I also welcome invitations to speak with schools, community groups, or civic organizations — and I’m always eager to connect directly with residents to hear your questions and concerns.
Each year, the Maryland General Assembly convenes from January through early April to consider legislation that impacts every corner of our state. I encourage anyone with ideas, questions, or concerns about legislation, whether pending or existing, to contact my office. Many of the best policy ideas come directly from constituents who see opportunities for improvement in their communities.
Investing in our next generation of leaders is one of my top priorities. Each year, my office offers internship opportunities, particularly during the legislative session, for students interested in public service and state government.
In addition, I award legislative scholarships each year to help constituents pursue higher education. Scholarship applications typically open each January and can be accessed through my website at www.dawngile.com/scholarships or by contacting my office directly.
No matter the time of year or whether the legislature is in session, my door is always open. If you have questions, need assistance, or simply want to share your thoughts, my team and I are here to help. You can reach us by phone at 410-841-3568 or by email at dawn.gile@senate.state.md.us.
