New Book Provides Chilling Details of Deceptions, Lies And Abuse Of Former Maryland Politician

Ruth Ann Aron Green is many things: a Brooklyn-born former politician who ran for Maryland Senate as a Republican, a former real estate developer and a well-educated mother of two successful children. She’s also a criminal who was sentenced to jail for attempting to hire a hitman in 1997 to kill her then-husband of 30 years, prominent urologist Barry Aron.

In 1998, Aron Green pled no contest to murder-for-hire charges and was sentenced to three years in jail and five years of probation. She was released in October 2000. Since that time, she’s remained mostly out of the spotlight, choosing to focus on healing after a lifetime of alleged torment and abuse.

Now 73 years old, the slight women with dark piercing eyes is sharing her side of the story and promoting her new book “Corrupted Justice: A Killer Husband.” Speaking softly, Aron Green methodically and calmly read the first chapter of her chilling book before an intimate gathering at The Annapolis Bookstore on Saturday, April 23.

“Corrupted Justice: A Killer Husband” is an 800-page-turning paperback outlining stunning details that Aron Green believes will finally bring the truth to light about her alleged abuse at the hand of a clever, conniving man desperate to ruin her reputation, her future aspirations, and by all accounts, her very soul.

As she retold the bizarre and unbelievable events of her life during her trip to The Annapolis Bookstore, she did so with a matter-of-fact monotone voice and an expressionless face. She has painstakingly pieced together her most buried and twisted memories, and gathered countless pieces of supposed evidence to create what she believes is finally proof of her innocence of the solicitation to murder charges that have haunted her for more than 20 years.

On March 10, coincidently just one day after the release of her book, the Bethesda Beat reported that on March 8, her lawyer filed a petition in Montgomery County Circuit Court asking a judge to reconsider her plea agreement, saying that Aron Green’s former attorney threatened a significant sentence if she did not plead “no contest.”

Dr. Barry Aron’s testimony in 1998 was a complete contradiction to Aron Green’s recount of events. He married the woman Aron Green accused of being his mistress during their marriage. She said she isn’t sure where he is today, though reports state he may now be retired, possibly living in the New York City area or even Southern Maryland.

While Aron Green waits for the state to respond to the 31-page petition, and ultimately a judge’s ruling to dismiss or call for an evidentiary hearing, she is visiting independent bookstores to retell her side of the story, which she says is finally the whole truth.

Aron Green said that while she hopes her book and latest appeal will shed much needed light on a corrupt and biased judicial system that wrongly accused her of crime she didn’t commit, she also hopes that other women who feel trapped by their circumstances will find strength to stand up to their abusers or leave a torturous existence.

“My greatest fear used to be the thought of ending up alone,” said Aron Green. “That fear weighted on me heavily, but I am not afraid anymore.”
