Wellspring Life Ministry (WLM), a nonprofit organization, has announced that Pamela Palumbo will retire as CEO in the spring of 2026. Since assuming leadership in 1982, Palumbo has overseen tremendous growth and impact, strengthening the ministry’s role as a leader in women’s life-affirming health care in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties and beyond with offices in Annapolis, Bowie and Severna Park.
“Leading Wellspring Life Ministry has been one of the greatest honors of my life and I give praise and glory to God for his work in my life and the lives of those we have served,” Palumbo said. “Stepping away is bittersweet, but the ministry is in a strong position to continue amazing, lifesaving work. I look forward to more time with my husband, Joe, and our family, especially our 20 awesome grandchildren, while remaining a steadfast supporter of this incredible ministry.”
Under her leadership, WLM has grown from one women’s clinic office in Bowie-Crofton to three with the addition of the Severna Park and Annapolis women’s clinics. Her tenure has been marked by a deep commitment to statewide leadership, serving as founder and president of the Maryland Coalition, representing 23 women’s clinics across the state.
Palumbo’s leadership expanded Wellspring’s impact, beginning with being one of the first women’s clinics in the nation to add medical services of ultrasound, STD/HIV testing and now Well Women Care, all offered at no cost. Her vision transformed the organization into a national model for compassionate, faith-based care.
“For over 40 years, Pamela’s Christlike leadership has been a beacon, saving countless lives and mentoring generations of advocates for women and their children,” said Derek McCoy, chair of the board. “We have all been blessed by her passion and heart to save lives. Her service is unmatched and we are deeply grateful.”
The WLM board of directors has retained a search firm to lead a national search for Palumbo’s successor. “Our priority is to find a leader who will build upon Pamela’s extraordinary legacy while expanding WLM’s reach to meet the growing demand for life-affirming services,” McCoy said. “…In the meantime, Pamela will continue leading WLM with the same passion and dedication that have defined her remarkable tenure.”
