Green Hornets boys basketball player Parker Jackson earned a special recognition during March, which was National Sportsmanship Month. A member of the 12U A team, Parker was honored with the Anne Arundel County Sportsmanship Award.
Each youth basketball league in Anne Arundel County was encouraged to nominate a boy and girl athlete for the honor. The Green Hornets felt Parker was a perfect choice for the award.
“Parker is a true competitor and leader by example,” said Marshall Rumney, coach of the 12U A team. “He embodies sportsmanship by his ability to compete fiercely between the lines, leave it all on the court, but throw a smile on as soon as the competition is over. He has been in our program for five years now, and has always done what was asked of him, without hesitation. He is always respectful of competitors, coaches and officials — win or lose — and embodies a class act on and off the court.”
