Severna Park Girl Scouts Create Unity Garden At Marley Middle

Posted

Troop 1644 Girl Scouts from Severna Park - Lena Ventrudo, Abby Drapalski, Jackalyn Hunter, Catherine Baker and Gianna Tripodi – completed work on a unity garden for Marley Middle School in Glen Burnie on the weekend of May 1.This was their Bronze Award project, one of the highest awards that a Girl Scout can earn.

The girls worked more than 20 hours to plan, design and implement their plan to make a beautiful, calming space for Marley Middle School students. Through donations from troop members, neighbors, and Costello's Ace Hardware in Glen Burnie, the girls were able to gather the supplies to begin building chairs, painting kindness rocks, and purchasing plants and mulch to complete the garden. This space will be utilized by students during recess and small instructional groups throughout the school year.
