The Severna Park Green Hornets 11- to 12-year-old Majors baseball division was wrapped up on June 5 with the Severna Park Yankees taking the championship game over the Severna Park Pirates 15-6. The Severna Park Yankees went undefeated this year in the Severna Park league (5-0). The team then moved on to the Anne Arundel County Baseball COOP tournament, which included 24 11- to 12-year-old Major rec baseball teams throughout Anne Arundel County. The Severna Park Yankees worked their way to the Anne Arundel County Majors championship game, but fell just short, losing to the undefeated Harundale Rebels 5-2. The Yankees finished their season with a 14-3 record.

After a year of COVID and no baseball in 2020, the boys came together with a lot of new things thrown at them. With none of the boys having played in the Majors division before, they had to jump into full Major League Baseball rules this year, which included base stealing, dropped third strikes, and balks.

“To see the boys grow this season, come together as a team and support one another, all while still battling through a pandemic, speaks a lot of these young men,” said Severna Park Yankees head coach Nick DeAngelis. “It truly has been a team effort with everyone contributing to the success of the team.”

The Severna Park Yankees are Dorsey Berlin, Jake Tarsi, Evan Chojnowski, James Clifford, Marek Daccarett, David DeAngelis, Ricky Turner, Ethan Shinnamon, Ben Sepp, Evan Tarsi, Rhodes Opalinsky and Matthew Lindquist.

Coaches are Nick DeAngelis, Chris Turner, Adam Tarsi and Don Shinnamon.
