Every year, the Severna Park Voice’s 2026 Nonprofit of the Year, the Walk the Walk Foundation (WTWF), provides local children in need with backpacks filled with school supplies before the start of the academic year. Last year, WTWF distributed 1,500 backpacks around the county.
Next week, community members have the opportunity to stuff a backpack or two and enjoy food and fellowship at the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce’s (GSPACC) monthly TGIF cookout. On Friday, July 31, the Voice will sponsor the cookout and WTWF will have a trailer onsite for attendees to fill backpacks with supplies to help children prepare for the school year. The cost of filling a backpack is $35.
The cookout will run from noon to 2:00pm and is free to attend for GSPACC members and first-time guests. The event is $15 for non-members of the chamber. The chamber will serve a variety of burgers, salads, cookies and more, with ice cream provided by Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and popcorn provided by the Negron Farmers Insurance Agency.
The GSPACC is located at 1 Holly Avenue in Severna Park. Register for the cookout here, or learn more about Walk the Walk Foundation at www.wtwf.org.
