Tate Cancer Center Celebrates Renovated Healing Garden

Posted

On October 6, the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Tate Cancer Center’s newly renovated Healing Garden. The garden was originally built in 2004, a year after the Tate Cancer Center opened at UM BWMC, and for more than 20 years it has offered patients, caregivers, community members and healthcare teams a peaceful place to pause and reflect outside of the physical hospital walls.

The space has been thoughtfully restored and reimagined for the years ahead, funded through the generosity of community donors. The garden now includes a memorial plaque and wind art piece in honor of Katherine Mueller and in recognition of Severna Park-based nonprofit Katherine's Light Foundation.
