U.S. Navy Blue Angels Visit Annapolis For Commissioning Week

Posted

On May 20, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron took to the skies over the United States Naval Academy (USNA) for a rehearsal air show. The show planned for May 21 as part of the USNA’s Commissioning Week celebrations was canceled due to poor weather conditions. The Blue Angels wowed crowds with the delta formation, in which all six F/A-18 Super Hornets fly together; the diamond 360 maneuver, in which four of the jets fly just 18 inches apart; the sneak pass, where a solo jet blasts by spectators at roughly 700 miles per hour; and many other awe-inspiring maneuvers. The all-Marine Corps crew of Fat Albert, the Blue Angels’ C-130J Super Hercules support aircraft, closed out the rehearsal by demonstrating the versatility of the large cargo plane with its own set of aerobatic maneuvers.
