Longtime Broadneck boys basketball coach John Williams has left the program after two decades, the school announced Monday. Williams, a 1991 Broadneck graduate, was the head coach for the last 17 seasons.

In his time as head coach, Williams led Broadneck to three county championships, two region championships, and the 2019 4A state championship game.

In a statement released by the school, Williams thanked the Broadneck athletic department, his assistants over the years, and his former and current players.

“I hope the Broadneck basketball players can look back on their experiences during my tenure with good memories and life lessons that will help sustain them into the future,” he said.

Williams will remain in his roles as a teacher and assistant soccer coach at the school.

A search for his successor is already underway, the school said.
