Coming into Tuesday night’s county championship with a 19-1 record, Broadneck’s baseball team had every reason to be confident. But Northeast got on the scoreboard first and the game was tied at 1-1 heading into the sixth inning.
Yet Broadneck pitcher Chase Hannon kept his team in the game with 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball and Max White delivered a sacrifice bunt to put Broadneck ahead as they celebrated a 2-1 win at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover. The win gave Broadneck their second county title in the last three years. Now, the Bruins will enter the 4A East II playoffs as the top seed, with a playoff date against Annapolis or North Point on Saturday afternoon.
