Young Entrepreneur Makes Junior Achievement’s 18 Under 18 List

Kiriakos “Rocco” Katsikides has proven to be one smart cookie. Thanks to his baking business, the Severna Park High School student just made Junior Achievement of Central Maryland’s 18 Under 18 list for 2026.

Coordinated in partnership with Baltimore magazine, the 18 Under 18 initiative recognizes students across the region who are launching businesses, advocating for their communities, and leading with purpose well before graduation. Honorees attended an awards ceremony in May.

Rocco started Colossus Cookie Company as a seventh-grader in Texas and continued to grow his operation after moving to Maryland in June 2024.

“I always enjoyed baking when I was younger and realized I could share the love,” Rocco said.

His offerings include chocolate chip, Reese’s Pieces, cookies and cream, churro, seasonal pumpkin spice and sprinkles. Customers can find the treats around town at The Station on the B&A Trail, at Garten restaurant and at community events such as the Acton Children’s Business Fair.

Not only is Rocco an entrepreneur; the ninth-grader is an honor roll student who plays club soccer and is active in community service through the Greek Orthodox Youth of America.

When it comes to business, Rocco is dreaming big. His goal is 10 stores. It’s not a half-baked idea, but it will require a step up from his current set-up.

“It’s a cottage kitchen in a small, dedicated part of the house,” he said of his current baking space. “I want to have my own commercial kitchen.

“I want to expand and keep sharing the love more.”
