County Budget Prioritizes Education, Public Safety

The seven-member Anne Arundel County Council unanimously passed a $2.4 billion Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) budget on June 13. After 45 days of deliberation, the council made some tweaks to County Executive Steuart Pittman’s proposal before agreeing on the final bill. more

New Standalone County Department Of Animal Services Established

The seven-member Anne Arundel County Council unanimously passed Bill 25-25 in May. The bill will transition Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control into the Department of Animal Services, and it establishes the department as an executive-level branch of county government reporting to the county executive. more
