The highlights of December were the chamber’s two major events, our annual tree lighting celebration and the 15th anniversary of the Taste and Sip Extravaganza.
Traditionally held on the first Friday of December, the tree lighting was rescheduled to December 11 due to inclement weather, and it did not disappoint! Revelers enjoyed entertainment from The Edge Dance Complex, the Severna Park Elementary School chorus, the Severna Park High School jazz band, and Bach to Rock music school’s glee club. Santa, the Grinch and the Chick-fil-A Santa Cow delighted the crowd, who sampled treats from the Toast of Severna Park Toastmasters Club and Always Ice Cream Company.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for helping to defray the cost of illuminating the 75-foot tree. Our main sponsor was IPM Pools and Patios, which repairs and strings the lights each year. Other generous sponsors included Jimeno and Gray P.A., Severna Park Automotive, Hello Home of Compass Betty Batty Real Estate, JK Organizing, Lighthouse Car Wash, Creative Force Dance Center, Chick-fil-A, CheckMark Power Washing, Re-Elect Senator Dawn Gile, Edward J. Herold CPA, Life of Joy Foundation, Be My Guest Catering, Chip Carr of Monument Sotheby’s International Realty and Freeman Bagnall.
We held our 15th annual Taste and Sip Extravaganza at the Chartwell Golf and Country Club to the delight of close to 400 attendees. Sponsored by Matt Wyble and Joe Smith of Next Step Realty, this signature chamber event spotlights the best of our local culinary and beverage scenes. Attendees sampled a wide variety of offerings from area restaurants and specialty vendors, all in one lively setting. The event encourages networking, supports local businesses, and gives residents and visitors a true “taste” of what our community has to offer.
We enjoyed entertainment from the Chesapeake Harmony Chorus and the Harbor City Music Company. About 100 silent auction items were donated by our generous businesses, and a percentage of the proceeds supported the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and Anne Arundel Animal Services.
Other wonderful sponsors included Cassilly & Appel Inc., Taichi Bubble Tea, SmartFit Kids Academy/before and after school care, MAD Soaps Inc., Pomfret and Telljohann Wealth Management Group, KMA Law Office, Yacht Brokers of Annapolis, Park Modern Realty, Inspire Integrative Medicine, Park Avenue Aesthetics, Griswold Home Care, Park Hardware, Eco Adventures, Compass Direct Care, Chick-fil-A Severna Park, Lean on Dee Senior Home Care Services LLC, Whale Works Design and Illustration, Morningside House of Friendship, Kipke for Senate, Eco Adventures, Maryland Livescan Fingerprinting and The Sheridan at Severna Park. Zachary’s Jewelers provided a beautiful necklace as a raffle item.
Looking ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be a great year for the chamber as momentum continues to build around community engagement, business growth, and meaningful connections. Stay on the lookout for the many ribbon cuttings and grand openings we have on the horizon, and events that bring you together with our businesses and nonprofits like our Shop Local events! This year, we are collaborating with the Maryland Curiosity Lab to bring you a children’s business fair so you can meet our youngest entrepreneurs.
