The highlight of April was our partnership with the Maryland Curiosity Lab to bring the Children’s Business Fair to Severna Park. The event was held on April 11 at Park Plaza and featured close to 90 young entrepreneurs ages 5 to 16.

It was so exciting to see these young innovators offering handmade crafts and delicious treats, 3D dragons in eggs, soaps, and more, explaining their products and ideas. Families and community members showed up in full force at this unique “marketplace.” So many kids expressed that they want to participate next year, so we expect an even larger turnout and booth participation!

There were 15 judges who visited the booths and provided feedback. The winners of the Children's Business Fair are:

Ages 5-9
Most Original Business Idea: Restaurant Fun Bags — Kelson and Wyatt Engel
Highest Business Potential: CPD Handkraft — Phoenix Lowman and Callie Kinahan
Best Presentation: Magic Shop — Emma Gray

Ages 10-12
Most Original Business Idea: The Paper Garden — Jovie Shinnamon
Highest Business Potential: The Bakery of Botany — William Price and Clayton Wise

Congratulations to these young entrepreneurs!

We had three ribbon-cutting celebrations in April. These included the 10th anniversary celebration of Haas & Sons Electric in Millersville and the grand opening of Play & Thrive Speech Therapy’s second location. We also participated in the much-anticipated official grand opening of Vivi’s Chicken n’ Mac in Severna Park. Owned by the DiMeo family, founders and operators of Squisitos, this is the second location of the new restaurant.

We are accepting applications and sponsorships for our July 4 parade where we will celebrate the 250th birthday of our country. Please visit our website for more information and an application if you plan to participate!
